Hello everyone!
It saddens me to see that we were JUST getting started playing recorder in class and now we're unable to continue learning it all together. I wanted to put together a post to help you find some recorder resources to help continue your learning at home.
A fantastic website that goes along with your student books that you've purchased is the Recorder Section on MusicPlay! You'll be able to explore and find a lot of the recorder videos I use in class.
On this website, you'll also be able to find...
- videos about the recorder, and how to play
- recorder warm-ups
- recorder composition tool (for writing your own music)
- recorder "Mad Minutes" for practicing playing notes
Here is a simple video showing/reviewing the basics of recorder:

Fun fact: when I was visiting my parents, I didn't have my recorder with me, so my Dad lent me his. The wooden recorder in the picture of me is older than me, my Dad had it since HE was in elementary school.
As always, if you have questions, comments, concerns, or just want to say hi, please have your parents email me at rdochstader@sd57.bc.ca
If you're playing the recorder and want to share any videos of you practicing or playing songs, I'd LOVE to see them! I miss you all and it's hard for me to not be able to see you practice and grow! I will make another post about Recorder Karate soon, I want to give those who have been practicing hard a chance to earn their belts.
Happy Music Making,
Ms. Dochstader
P.S. If you want to challenge yourself, try this recorder play along.
