This is the last Music Monday for for year, and I thought it would be fun to show one more unique instrument!
This instrument goes by many names - the Zeusaphone (named after the Greek God of lightning), the Thoramin (named after the Norse Thunder God, Thor), or the Singing Tesla Coil (named after Nicola Tesla, who had many contributions to how to we understand modern day electricity).
It works by taking a electronic music file and "amplifying" it through electricity. The higher the note, the less electricity, and the lower the note, the more electricity goes through the coil. All of the sounds are actually the sound of electricity/sparks flying through the air.
Here is video of Pachabel's "Canon in D", sung by the Zeusaphone.
Happy Listening,
Ms. Dochstader
