Hi everyone,
Something I loved doing at Springwood was curating different songs for us to listen to on the announcements. I will be continuing doing our "music monday" here, on my blog! It's easy, all you have to do is listen! I will give a blurb about each song and some things to think about while you listen.
This week's Music Monday:
The international holiday of St. Patrick’s day passed over Spring Break, and to honour the tradition, this week’s Music Monday will pay tribute to one of America’s most popular celtic bands, “the Dropkick Murphy’s”. This song has been played over 6 million times on youtube and continues to be a favourite tune at Saint Patrick’s parties all over North America. This song follows the silly tale of a pirate whom has lost their wooden leg and “ships up” to Boston to find it. This is "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" by the Dropkick Murphy's.
Things to Think About While Listening:
- There are a few instruments that make Celtic music unique sounding, can you guess which instruments they are?
- Why do you think this song is such a good song to play at parties?
Have fun listening,
Ms. Dochstader
