Hello to all of my Amazing Artists! Today’s art project is a drawing activity that focuses on 3 of our art principles. They are line, shape, and texture. To do this project the only thing you will need is a piece of paper and some colouring materials. Before we start let’s review our 4 principles: Line: We have many types of lines we can use. Some types of lines are: squiggly, straight, zig zag, curvy Shape: a flat enclosed area created by connecting lines. Some shapes you could draw are: circles, triangles, squares, rectangles and any other shapes you choose. Texture: the way a piece of art may feel. Some textures are: bumpy, smooth, rough. In order to create texture in art you can use different mediums (tools such as markers, crayons, paint) to display different textures. You can also create patterns that can show textures using lines. Now for your project: Your job is to first create a bunch of doodles all over your paper. Use as much of the space as you can. Use different types of lines & shapes to create your doodles. They can be common shapes or shapes of your own that you have made up.

Once your doodles are all drawn colour each shape in. You can focus on contrasting colours, secondary and primary colours, or warm and cool colours. Another suggestions are using all the same colour but different shades.

Contrasting Colours: Blue & Orange, Yellow & Purple, Red & Green – contrasting colours can be found opposite each other on the colour wheel. Primary Colours: Red, Yellow & Blue Secondary Colours: Green, Purple and Orange Warm Colours: Orange, Pink, Red, Magenta, Burgandy, Yellow Cool Colours: Blue, Teal, Turquoise, Green, Purple, Navy Blue, Violet, Remember this is art!! This is your time to be creative, express yourself in a fun way and most important there is NO wrong way to do art!!!

Have fun creating! Ms. Thun
